Family Portraits

Family portraits can be fun as well as memorable. Try not to be so rigid and formal. The looser you are going into the photo session the more relaxed your subjects will be. Once relaxed you'll see a side of them you may not have expected. The clients become themselves and this is the image you want and need to capture. This is that magic moment you've been waiting for. So, forget about all the formalities and let your subjects get loose, then do your job and capture those moments.

Website or Not ?

Are Websites necessary for a photographer? Is it critical to have fresh breath on a first date? Sure. First impressions go a long way. A website is a Great way and a cost effective way to market your talents. When you have that one opportunity to present yourself, you'll want to do it with style and class or in a way that people will remember you with. You may want to try something original, special outfit, hair color, extra white teeth. Presenting images never or rarely seen. Stay with the latest album designs, special covers or unique materials. Technology has allowed us as consumers to take advantage of many new resources at affordable prices. Do some research and hit the road running.

Roadside

Some cool debris on the side of the road. Almost fell off the stack while taking the pics, but my cat-like reflex allowed me the grace to pull it off. Actually, just tripped a little.

Tides Have Turned

Times have changed drastically. It is as if people are just waiting to be laid off and every day we are hearing news of hundreds or thousands of people losing their jobs. Microsoft, Nokia, Google, GM, Ford and more. Big names and small ones are all affected. In February, employers took 2,769 mass layoff actions involving 295,477 workers. That was only this past February. Mining; construction; manufacturing; wholesale trade; retail trade; transportation and warehousing; finance and insurance; real estate and rental and leasing; professional and technical services; management of
companies and enterprises; educational services; accommodation and food services; and other services. These are some of the roughest times I've seen and the saddest part about all of this, is I expect to see worse.

Cooper Crash I-5 North

One never knows what to expect when traveling. Here is an accident this Cooper owner wished had never happened. This must have occurred minutes before I passed. Funny thing I had my camera on the chair next to me hoping to get a cool photo of a sign or something. Then this tragedy appeared and I was there to document the shot. This is one of those unfortunate situations no one likes to see.

LG KM900 3D

I'm a Big iPhone fan. I love the apps and ease of use. The latest of competitors, BlackBerry Storm, Motorola Krave ZN4, AT&T Quickfire, Samsung Eternity, G1 Android Phone and more appear to have the drive to be contenders to the iPhone, yet none possess the overall components to achieve that reputation, until now. The New LG KM900 3D, has the interface, the app potential and more. 5MP camera, the ability to shoot DVD quality video and support for HSDPA 7.2 networks, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS.

Using our spare time to create a short little movie. Took about 20min to shoot and with the script being written as we shot, it ended up being a stress free project. Looking forward to producing the next chapter of "Chopstick Warrior"

iPhone

Just testing out the camera on my new iPhone. Absolutely the coolest thing I have gotten in a long time. Never thought a phone could be so useful and intriguing. Technology is moving faster than one can keep up these days and with myspace, facebook, youtube, break, ichat, aim and the other interactive sights, it leaves us with a lot of options for networking, communicating and just down right playing.

H.B. Pier

Another cool photo in Huntington Beach under the pier. I think this shot under the pier will be a favorite of mine for quite sometime. It's powerful and fun to shoot and is not affected by the harsh lighting conditions so often found when shooting at the beach during mid-day.

Here is a recent set of photos from another engagement. Very easy to shoot, lots of shade to work with (one of my favorite conditions) and Matt and Rosemary were fun and flexible. This is always a nice condition to have when working with couples.

Easter Egg Hunt at Mariners Church

This was a Huge Production on the part of Mariners Church on the Saturday before Easter. They scheduled two of these egg hunts, one at 3pm and the second at 7pm. The most unique aspect of the event was the egg drop from a police helicopter. I'm not sure if I went there for me or for my children. Among the thousands of eggs were thousands of children and hundreds of egg-stuffers enjoying the results of their hard work of filling the eggs with treats.

Windy Day

Who'd ever think that in sunny Southern California there would be a day too windy to take engagement photos at the beach. Not me that's for sure. Here's an example where you can see that the wind can act as both your advocate and enemy. It was very cooool and both Mein and May did a fantastic job looking warm even when we took some photos underneath the Newport Beach Pier. We had a nice time once we adjusted to the lower temperature and in the end shot quite a few great photos.

Calvary Chapel vs Santa Ana

Went to a Wrestling Match between Calvary Chapel and Santa Ana with my two older boys and caught some action while we enjoyed the intensity of the audience. Shot this with my 30D Canon using a Sigma 28-70mm 2.8f at 3200 ISO shutter 1/125 in manual focus. Didn't have much of a choice on ISO settings, because of the amount of available light and not having a flash and being so far from the action. It's a little grainy, but I'd rather have a shot with grain than no shot at all. Something to consider when shooting in varying conditions, that sometimes adjustments and sacrifices have to be made. My only regret that night was I wish I had a 70-200mm IS lens with me.

Aquarium

I was just messing around with things and thought it would be fun taking photos of our recently broken aquarium. Then if that wasn't enough I went ahead and messed with its colors, and here you go. Not sure what to call it.

The Yardleys
